Today sitting at the breakfast table Will and I were trying to decide what we were going to do today. His Dad suggested we go visit a town called, Porjus. Having NO idea what we were ABOUT to stumble upon we began on our adventure...
We ate lunch and went into an antique store... check out these are laplandish booties!
First we to the
Rather than feeling the water with my hands, I opted for the whole foot in the water feel. You know get the sock and whole shoe wet to get the real full effect of the coldness of the water... do you see how my footprints go STRAIGHT into the water???
We decided to dry my socks by rolling the window up on my socks and let them flap in the wind till they are dry. We followed the same dirt road when we spotted a little ways off the road a flat water slide.
The stones were SO flat, and we decided with matches and branches we would dry my shoes and socks!
While we were hanging out we thought we heard a waterfall. We followed the sound and found SEVERAL. We hiked through the woods and across the stones, several time RE-TESTING THE TEMPERATURE OF THE STUPID WATER... finding some other pretty awesome waterfalls along the way...
We heard the sound of a giant waterfall getting louder. What we found we never expected to find, pretty much 3 rivers meeting at 1 spot! We were so far off any path or any road... kind of one of those undiscovered secrets!
Talk about breaking a sweat but the view is unbelievable!!! You must remember we hiked in weeds and bushes and trees, nothing anywhere close to resembling a path.
After hiking back again the car, we rolled up my now again wet socks in the window and started to head home. Of course I see another massive waterfall so we followed ANOTHER dirt road (our favorite) and found a cabin. This was more like a posh cabin, sitting up on a 50ft cliff this cabin overlooked out onto a waterfall! Up on this cliff, with the formation of the rocks, they made their own swimming pool!!!
Heres the waterfall it over looks onto
DYING for a bathroom, (and because in
We loaded back up now with dry socks and shoes and pants, Will remembered one last spot... so glad he did, look how beautiful!
So this time we decided to REALLY head back... only to find a sign that said scenic outlook. Of course we pulled over and I'm SO glad we did because out of everything we had seen, this topped it all...
UNBELIEVABLE! The rocks, everything. Darren Clark, I was thinking of you when I saw this place, it was unreal. Nothing to describe it. Just... unreal. This time we didn't have to hike in the bushes or anything to get to it, but we did have to hike down half the mountain from the parking lot to get to it. Not an nice little scenic outlook point. We broke another sweat...
So driving back we found two last things. The first was a reindeer!
The second was cold water spring pipe!!! It spits straight from the mountain and people in the village will come with buckets and get fresh water. You can drink STRAIGHT from the pipe!!!
So, whew! Achy bones and tired as heck!
We ate dinner and did some yard work. It's my way of paying Williams father for everything he is doing for me. We are about to go into the sauna. You have NOT experienced a sauna until you go into a true Swedish sauna.
Looking back on yesterday I can't believe how much fun we had.
Aunt Pat I answered your question about the planter boxes in the picture of me and the dog. If you go back to the blog I answered the question in comment underneath yours...
