Today was my birthday and for the first time ever (probably because my Mother wasn't in Utah to make my birthday a national holiday as she's done the past 22 years) my birthday came and went with nothing super fabulous or grand. Here is a little jog down memory lane!
My dad calls it my "Million Dollar Smile"
...somebody should have just told him it's called hyperactive disorder!
At a young age I mastered the puppy dog eyes and pouty face that has never failed to work on my Dad, ever!
Needless to say my famous words growing up, that I still say to this day
"I! CAN! DO! IT! MY! SELF!!!"
(one of my favorite pictures!)
This was me in kindergarden with my "best friend in the whole wide world" Courtney Parker. We were at the zoo on a field trip. I wish we went on field trips to the zoo in college!
My mom and dad always told us when we were little "You can't ride your bikes on Sunday!" so that meant to me, "Ride your bike until you get caught or until you crash your bike on the rocks and slice your chin open for the 2nd time on a Sunday!"
When I say my Mom made our birthday's so grand, I mean it. She never believed in birthday parties because she personally hates being in charge of them. I think that is the only time she ever disliked children, haha. My Mom and Dad would wake up before my Dad left for work and make us breakfast in bed and get everybody up (even if it was against their own will) and sing happy birthday! Look at Robin, that little skunk, eying my breakfast!!!
Let me just say, Carrie... I still remember how you had your wedding reception on my birthday. I think I was turning 11 years old. I was so mad at you for the longest time, hahaha... Don't even think that I've gotten over that yet... this animated picture probably best describes my face that day! Hahaha!
However, I can't complain because this morning at 1a.m. William landed in America. YAY! His flights got delayed in Philadelphia and Denver... so by the time he got here, I was bouncing off the walls with excitement and he was... ready to pass out...
please ignore how stellar I look, i rushed from work with wet hair to the airport
He got me a present... you see about a year and half (maybe more) ago he got me Teddy Bear to cheer me up when I was having a really rotten day. He named the teddy bear, Rupert. Rupert has ridden in the car to hockey games, BUCKLED INTO THE SEAT with a seatbelt by William... well he felt that Rupert needed a girlfriend. For my birthday, he gave Rupert a girlfriend. She is on the right. Her name is to be determined... she is from Sweden! So I am trying to think of a Swedish name...
He also made sure I had plenty of "cars" my FAVORITE Swedish candy, to cover me until his Dad comes to visit in a couple months, when he will bring me another stash! Of course, you can't be left empty handed without some DELICIOUS Swedish chocolate!
I had to work today, but when I showed up they told me to take the day off because it was my birthday! Well my wonderful Daddy had some flowers delivered to work, but I wasn't there!! So I went to pick them up and was totally taken back by how PRETTY they were!!!
Last but not least, my Mommy sent me a birthday box!
She is so good at this and I love it how she always thinks of something thoughtful. She sent the most DELICIOUS balsalmic vinaigrette and olive oil. DIVINE! It may not seem like much but this stuff, WOW!
Not to mention and precious little birthday card that reminds me over and over that she loves me! Awww!
Nalani, just so you know for some reason I didn't get my Barbie birthday cake in the mail!
Here is a reminder of what I'm talking about:
I was totally waiting in suspense to see if it was Malibu Barbie or Snow Crystal Barbie... maybe you sent it to the wrong address! I'm still accepting cakes or cards, haha!

How well I remember how upset you would get if we planned a family reunion or wedding on your birthday. Ask Nalani about that sometime... Cute photos, by the way. You always were a cutie!!!
Happy Birthday Amelia!
That picture of you at the zoo makes me laugh because that is how I remembered you to look when we were kids.
I could tell you were ticked off at me because my seattle reception was on your birthday, hopefully one day we can look back on it and laugh? :)
happy happy birthday! May all your wildest wishes come true! ha ha!
WOW!!!!! I didn't know we had royalty in the family........Happy Birthday!
Happy belated birthday, Amelia!
Dang! I did send the princes cake to the wrong address-----sooooo sorry! Hey I can appreciate your birthday being a hallowed day! I'm still bitter that Cody broke his arm on my 11th birthday and that Maile graduated from college on my 26th birthday! I know there are more stories but I can't remember them now---or I've finally gotten over them.
